Tier 5

Temporary Workers and Youth Mobility

This type of visa is available to the migrants who wish to come to the UK to do temporary work for a licensed Tier 5 sponsor, under the Points Based System. A Tier 5 visa is specifically for those under the age of 31 who are looking to gain work experience in the UK. It is also available for a range of temporary employment opportunities, for example, sports people or musicians who want to come to the UK to perform or participate in an event such as a concert, theatre, sports match or the Olympics. At Farani Taylor, we can help you with any sort of Tier 5 application you may wish to apply for.

Temporary Workers

For the applicant to be eligible for Tier 5 visa category, they must have a job offer from a licensed sponsor, along with meeting the requirements of the Points Based System. However, there are different requirements under the Youth Mobility Scheme. The maximum granted duration of leave is 24 months and it is not permitted to switch to other tiers.

The following categories are covered under Tier 5 visas of temporary workers, who want to immigrate to the UK but do not qualify under the requirements of a Tier 2 visa.

Creative or Sporting

This category is for people who want to come to the UK to work or perform as entertainers, sports events or creative artists, they are granted the visa for up to 12 months and are required to be internationally established at the highest level in their area of expertise. Their sponsor must be able to confirm that the applicant poses no threat to the domestic workforce and will engage only in the specified activity.

Charity/Voluntary Workers

This is for those who wish to come to do voluntary/unpaid work for charity purposes in the UK. The sponsor must satisfy the requirements of this category by demonstrating that the activity is directly relevant to the organization and that it is temporary.

Religious Workers

A Religious Worker Visa is for those who want to come to the UK to engage in the activities of preaching, pastoral or non-pastoral work, or in a religious order such as a monastery or convent, if sponsored by the faith community.

Government Authorised Exchange

This visa allows individuals to come to the UK as a part of an accredited exchange, development or approved knowledge sharing schemes sponsored by the organization running the scheme.

International Agreement

Individuals may come to the UK under contract in order to provide services covered under international law. This includes workers under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and similar agreements, employees of overseas governments and international organizations, and private servants in diplomatic households.

Youth Mobility Scheme

This category allows young individuals from Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and several others to work and live in the UK for a period of two years, provided that they are a British Overseas Citizen, a British Overseas Territories Citizen or a British National (Overseas). Applicants for this visa will require a certificate of sponsorship to be issued by their home Government. This certificate will serve as an assurance that the applicant will abide by the terms of scheme undertaken. The applicant must score the full 50 points. As simple as it may sound, the application process can become complicated as the smallest mistake can lead to the trouble of refusals and prolonged procedures.

At Farani Taylor, we provide efficient assistance with the application process and will give you reliable advice on whether you fit in the category or not. Call us today on 0207 118 1666 to discuss the possibilities of your case.
