Awais Javed

Awais is the Head of Immigration Department in our Ilford Office. He is a specialist in immigration and his practice covers the full spectrum of immigration law.

His work ranges from:

  • Business and Commercial Immigration
  • Points-based system Applications
  • Judicial reviews
  • Asylum
  • Human Rights
  • Appeals
  • Immigration Detention
  • Unlawful detention
  • Nationality
  • EEA Family and extended family member applications and appeals
  • Other EU free movement issues

He is regularly instructed in asylum cases, particularly in relation to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia. He also deals with entry clearance work, including the points-based system, visitors, and family reunion, deportation appeals in relation to criminal convictions or alleged terrorist connections, and cases in which a threat to national security is alleged.

Awais frequently advises on fresh claims in relation to human rights and asylum, after an initial appeal has been exhausted, and has been instructed on a numbers of cases involving breaches of policy and legitimate expectation in immigration law.

He also has experience in family law, divorce and children proceedings, particularly in cases with an international or immigration dimension and regularly advice clients on immigration matters for family law proceedings, being one of the few solicitors with genuine experience in both areas.

“Awais and all the staff and Farani Taylor helped me so much when applying for a dependant of an EU citizen. Before I approached the firm, I was advised by other solicitors that my application would be unsuccessful due to several technicalities in my case. However, I instructed Awais because he believed that my case had a chance. He was very professional and kept me updated about the progress of my case every step of the way. My application was approved despite all the difficulties it faced. Thank you very much Awais, I am very, very happy.” – Mubashir Imran.
